Reflective Commentary

The most challenging aspect through this reflective profession specific practice is the realisation that I have long ways to go, in reference with my communication skills and the aspects involved. Self critiquing my communication skills will only better myself and my interpersonal skills.

The more rewarding aspect of this reflective journey was the ability to put in practice the communication skills being taught. Therefore, identifying the components I was lacking and needed work in. Self awareness of my ability to communicate, will help when I implement this as a Physiotherapist.

Being self-aware about my strengths and weaknesses, enables me to grow as a person. This was evident through the lack of interpersonal skills, due to not being confident in making conversation. Definitely, critiquing myself in future practice will only make me better, as I would learn from my mistakes.

Teamwork is essential in any field, as the individuals that are around you make you better. The Inter-professional team in the second assessment, was reliant on each other to find an outcome. As a health professional, a team environment can only make the situation easier to handle (Rogers 2015).

Active listening ensures the engagement in the interview environment. The concept was implemented in the interview with a health professional but will also be used by me in future practice as a Physiotherapist and with my patients (Decker and Decker 2015).
