The purpose of this ePortfolio is to evaluate the written and verbal communication skills that have great importance in the physiotherapy conduct (Knapp, Hall and Horgan 2014).
Communication in Physiotherapy allows for the professionals and the patients to hold a mutual understanding of a certain situation. Communication is an important skill for a health professional to have, as they may encounter different patients of all ages, genders and cultural backgrounds. The essential importance of being able to accommodate to the needs of the patients through different types of communication. This allows for coherence when it comes to the discussion of a patient’s condition and the implementation of treatments.
Learning about communication skills and utilising the appropriate modes of communication when it comes to interactions with patients, would enable me to develop positive professional relationships. The learning process would allow me to become more critical of myself, as the critical analysis reiterates the weaknesses that I have in communication and how that ultimately affects my interaction with future patients. The personal goal of being more than adequate in the communication aspect allows for success in future professions (Bramhall 2014).
The content contained in the ePortfolio will teach me valuable characteristics about communication that will enable me to interact with patients in a professional manner. Strong communication with your patients its quite important as physiotherapy is a person-centric profession. Communicating with your patients with confidence allows for successful health outcomes and therefore the human health is being treated in the most imperative and professional approach.
